SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The San Diego Padres today announced that they have optioned six players and have reassigned five to minor league camp. Executive Vice President/General Manager Jed Hoyer made the announcement.
Right-handed pitchers Simon Castro, Jeremy Hefner and Evan Scribner, left-handed pitcher Aaron Poreda and catcher Luis Martinez have all been optioned to Triple-A Tucson. Infielder Jeudy Valdez has been optioned to Single-A Lake Elsinore. In addition, right-handed pitcher Anthony Bass, infielders James Darnell, Anthony Rizzo and Andy Parrino and catcher Jason Hagerty have been reassigned to minor league camp.
With today's transactions, the Padres now have 47 players in Major League camp.
