SAN DIEGO -- Gregg Zaun today announced that he has retired from playing Major League Baseball, following a 16-year career.

In addition, the Padres today announced that they have reassigned right-handed pitchers Brad Brach, Alexis Lara, Craig Italiano and Matt Lollis and left-handed pitcher Juan Oramas to minor league camp. Executive Vice President/General Manager Jed Hoyer announced the transactions.

Zaun, 39, played for the Baltimore Orioles (1995-96, 2009), Florida Marlins (1996-98), Texas Rangers (1999), Kansas City Royals (2000-01), Houston Astros (2002-03), Colorado Rockies (2003), Toronto Blue Jays (2004-08), Tampa Bay Rays (2009) and Milwaukee Brewers (2010) over parts of 16 Major League seasons. In his 1,232 career Major League games, he hit .252 (878-for-3489) with 194 doubles, nine triples, 88 home runs, 446 RBI and 437 runs scored. Zaun spent the 2010 campaign with the Milwaukee Brewers appearing for his ninth Major League club.

With today's transactions, the Padres now have 58 players in Major League camp.
