Spring Training 2012

I apologize for the lack of posting lately. Real life has gotten in the way. From buying a house to getting accepted to SDSU to being completely swamped at work, my last 2 weeks have been a little hectic. With all that said, I expect to have a little more time starting next week and posts will start up again, including the long rumored Padres and Pints: Episode 3.

It is now 9:00am on Friday and by this time tomorrow, I will be en route to Peoria for SPRING TRAINING!! Ah yes. The annual pilgrimage to the middle of nowhere, Peoria, the land of huge urinals and nothing to do but watch baseball all day long. Doesn't get any better than that! This year I will be joined by the RJ's Fro one-hit (AKA one-post) wonder Marshall, the biggest Mariner hater I know (and there's a lot of them in San Diego) the Avenger-in-Chief and last, but not least, the brains of the operation Geoff Young of Ducksnorts.

First up on our trip is to stop in Yuma and pick up the jersey of the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Jersey" created by the Gaslamp Ball guys. Rumor has it that jbox whittled it together with nothing but some thread taken from Jonny Dub's cats ball of yarn and Dex's glasses. I'll be picking it up from GLB member Nater Tater who had the honor of being the first to wear it and even got to meet former Padre Garry Templeton in it! I can only hope my time with it is half as cool as that.

Next up, since there is no Padre game that day, we will check out the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick to see the Rockies take on the Diamondbacks. We have an agenda on this portion of the trip...1) We will steal the secrets of both teams and pass on the information to the Padres to use during the season & 2) We will kidnap Jenny Cavnar and bring her back to San Diego, where she belongs.

After that it's open season...we'll most likely drink a lot (Padres and Pints: Episode 4 perhaps??), eat at a waffle house or 2, and enjoy Padres vs. Mariners baseball for 17 days straight (OK just Sunday & Monday). Make sure to follow all three of us on twitter (@RJsFro @Ducksnorts @AveningJM) for lots of pictures & updates on our journey.
