"I Hate SF" and "Bring Back the Brown". Two statements that EVERY Padres fan should agree with. With FanFest coming and going, we got the awesome opportunity to meet a whole bunch of people. Some of those said people, were the fine folks behind the "Bring Back the Brown" campaign.
Unless you are blind, you already know that we here at the Fro, love the history of Padres baseball and have a special fondness for the color brown that was used from the team's inception in 1969, all the way until 1990. When the team asked the fans to sport the Blue and White SD stuff last season, even against the Dodgers, that was a plan that I had a hard time understanding. But this plan makes perfect sense to me. If you haven't signed the petition yet then go there now and get it done, it only takes two seconds. Special events are in the works to get the word out and fellow brown lovers Avenging Jack Murphy & The Sacrifice Bunt have already joined the cause.
The geniuses of American Icon Autographs are now auctioning off the coolest Mat Latos autograph known to man.....the "I hate SF!" ball. That's right ladies and gentleman...I. Hate. SF. (to all of you Giant fans reading this I know you're a little slow, so the SF stands for San Francisco) He inscribed 3 baseballs with the phrase on January 13th, 2011 at the AIA store and according to the eBay description it is "in the spirit of friendly competition with the Padres NL West rivals the San Francisco Giants". They are available now on eBay at $299.99 (or best offer) and comes with a Letter of Authenticity with 50% of the proceeds going to the MLB Players Alumni Association. If I had an extra 300 bucks lying around, I'd swoop this up in a heart beat.
