It's been a while since I've had the opportunity to post something on here. So let's shoot out a bunch of topics so I can get caught up again....

Padres Blogs Unite!
-I'd like to thank the San Diego Padres, Tucson Padres, Lake Elsinore Storm, Jane Mitchell, The San Diego Hall of Champions, Randy Jones and the Randy Jones All American Sports Grill for their generous donations for the raffle & silent auction. We raised over $1400.00 dollars for 2 great charities in the San Diego Madres & the Alex Smith Foundation. I'd also like to thank fellow bloggers (and 1 non-blog, but awesome cause)  Avenging Jack Murphy, Bring Back the Brown, Ducksnorts, Gaslamp Ball, LobShots, The Sacrifice Bunt & Woe, Doctor! for joining forces that fine day. Lastly how could I forget all you guys who showed up!! We packed that place and the event was such a huge success we just might have to do it again some day. I posted a few pictures on Facebook already, but if you took some feel free to post them/tag us, as well. The #balls bundle (Latos "I hate SF! ball, Rookie Card, display case & #balls shirt) went for a whopping $501.00 to Brady from LobShots, who beat out the team of myself & the Avenger-in-Chief. We had some big plans for that #ball too! You are no longer invited to any events Brady (only kidding).

Trying to remember the 2010 2011 Padres: Game 1 & 2
-I went to both games so far this season. In case you forgot, I have a lot on the line regarding the Padres/Giants rivalry this year. After infuriating the Giants blog Splashing Pumpkins, we decided to place a friendly wager. The winner of the 2011 series will get a chance to write whatever they want (500 word max, no profanities) on the other's blog. As you know, the series is now tied 1-1 and we must now wait until July 4th, in San Francisco, to continue the battle. I will be attending at least one game in that series AND will also be wearing my "I hate SF!" shirt. Don't let me down Padres.

-Opening day was awesome, but a pain at times as well. Parking was impossible, I had no cell service and I couldn't get into the beer garden to see Beautowns band play. But I made it inside in time to catch the awesome ceremonies. With the likes of one of only two remaining original PCL Padres, George McDonald, Jim Gleason, Ollie Brown, Padres Hall of Famer Randy Jones, Garry Templeton, Mark Loretta and clearly the man of the hour, Trevor Hoffman, who came out of the bullpen to his usual "Hells Bells". It's good to see him back in SD where he belongs. The game went great. We got Jack in the Box tacos. We got some blue shirts that I'm sure Friarhood Steve loved. You all know what happened with the action, so I won't bore you with rehashed details of a game 2 days old. The Padres won 3-1...enough said.

-The next day, the Avenger-in-Chief and I headed down to Petco for the 2nd and final game of this series. We met at Lolitas and precisely 1 minute after I ordered & paid for my food, I remembered that if you mention Bring Back the Brown and are wearing brown 2 hrs before, during, & 1 hr after all home games, you will get 10% off your order. I was wearing brown, I'm well aware of the Bring Back the Brown campaign & I was eating at Lolitas. #IAmAnIdiot. Petco Park was fairly empty that day with the majority of those in attendance being Giants fans. AIC and I pondered how we were actually a 3-1 team when Dustin Moseley (1 AB), Alberto Gonzalez (2 AB) & Cedric Hunter (2 AB) are in the top 10 for hits this season. We had no answers. As we sat a few rows back from the Giants bullpen, Brian Wilson began to warm up and thoughts of great heckles were racing through my mind. But that beard....I have to admit, it was mesmerizing and I immediately forgot what I was going to say. So being appendix-less myself, I put the appendectomy curse on Wilson. Give it a few, it'll happen at some point this season (and I am not to blame for Stauffers last season). Once again....you all know what happened so I'm not going to bring up the details of the 8-4 loss or the 13 strike outs by Lincecum.

Speaking of #balls

Party time!.... Again!!....BEAT LA!!!!....BROWN!!!!!!!!
-Finally, if the April 3rd party wasn't enough for you (and why should it be?), this Saturday April 9th at 5&A Dime Bring Back the Brown is throwing a killer party. I'll definitely be there....will you? Here are the details....

BBQ. DJ. DRINKS. PRODUCT.
This event marks the official home opener for the Bring Back The Brown campaign's 2011 season. Join us as we celebrate San Diego pride and the unique colors of the home team's past, with drinks, food, music, exclusive product releases from 5&A Dime and Product Etcetera™ (www.productetc.com), and an all-around good time. You will have a chance to talk baseball and mingle with some of San Diego's strongest, and most loyal fan forums. Afterwards, we will be marching to Bar Basic (http://www.barbasic.com/) and then Petco Park in the season's first "Crowd in Brown" for the 5:35pm SD vs. LA game.

A portion of the proceeds from drinks, food, and exclusive product sales will be donated to a San Diego Madres (http://www.sandiegomadres.org/) to help youth play baseball and softball in San Diego County by financially supporting their leagues.
The Bring Back The Brown campaign was created with the grand objective of fostering a stronger loyalty to San Diego and its sports culture. The goal is to get fans and San Diegans to feel empowered, and to feel like they're taking a degree of ownership and involvement in their team — by demanding that the brown return full-time (one – because it's unique, and two – because it makes sense). If you're down with the brown, visit the website and sign the petition!
