Hits and Misses

It's Friday and I've been sick all week long so here are some random hits and misses from the past few days....

HIT - Lawrence Taylor's loss is apparently Matt Stairs gain. Nutrisystem just axed Taylor due to all his recent legal troubles and replaced him with the Padres own Matt Stairs! (TMZ)

MISS - Our "good buddy" Bill Center decided to write the same exact article that I posted the day before him. He thinks the Dodgers are to blame in the attendance dropping. When in doubt, blame the Dodgers I guess.

On the same subject, I did a little further investigating and I noticed that the Padres have played fewer weekend games and have had more games mid-week at this point of the season as they did last season. They have played 1 more game on Mondays and Wednesdays this season. Last year they played 1 more game on Fridays and Saturdays. In my opinion that could very well be a bigger culprit than the Dodgers.

With the last game of the homestand attendance count of 17,121, the overall average dropped yet again. They are now averaging 3,623 fans per game less than last year.

HIT - The Fro is now a proud member of the Baseball Bloggers Alliance. We join fellow Padres bloggers Avenging Jack Murphy, Friar Forecast, The Friarhood, Padres Rundown, The Sacrifice Bunt & Websoulsurfer.  The BBA was formed in 2009 to "foster communication and collaboration between bloggers across baseball". We're happy to be on board and look forward to the partnership.

MISS - The Padres are no longer in first place. Those blasted Giants just won't go away!!

HIT - The Breakfast Burrito Challenge is still alive and kicking (I just need to write about it!!). I've taken down quite a few more burritos and I'm planning on having 3 today alone (breakfast, lunch and dinner). I'll be caught up in no time at this pace.

9 Steals= 4.5 Burritos + the 8.5 from the previous post giving me a grand total of 13 Breakfast Burritos. Piece of cake.

MISS - Chris Young. Sadly everyone here in San Diego called it. I feel bad for the guy, but honestly everytime he is "close to returning" or has "just a minor tweak" it always turns into something much larger. I would say I hope for a speedy recovery but I just want him to recover at this point. Take your time and don't rush back CY.
